This year at Tunerfest, we are turning up the nostalgia and revving up the excitement to celebrate 50 incredible years of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. This is a celebration of the GTI story through the ages, with a special focus on the iconic MK1, the car that started it all.

For half a century, the Golf GTI has captured hearts with its lightweight design, spirited performance, and pure driving fun. From the original MK1 of the mid 1970s through to modern performance icons, the GTI has remained the blueprint for the hot hatch and a cornerstone of car culture worldwide.

If you own a Golf GTI from any generation, we want to see it at Tunerfest. Original, restored, modified or track focused, all GTI builds are welcome.

A dedicated display celebrating Volkswagen Golf GTIs through the ages. From early MK1 classics to the latest models, explore the evolution of the GTI up close, with the MK1 taking centre stage as we mark its 50 year milestone.

Why It Matters

The Golf GTI did not just launch a model. It launched a movement. It changed what everyday performance cars could be and created a global community of enthusiasts. At Tunerfest, we are celebrating not just the cars, but the passion, culture and connections the GTI has inspired for five decades.
